Top 10 Records of 2011: Jimmy Islip (Loads of Bands)

Next in the series we've got Jimmy Islip from, well, Jimmy Islip. He also plays in That Fucking Tank, Milloy and The Magnificent and probably a few more bands too. He's currently on tour with TFT and they finish up in the UK and you can see the dates here. Anyway, here are Jimmy's Top 10 Records of 2011 "in no particular order".

  1. In Zaire / Skull Defekts - Split 12" - Bueno DIY Italia afro-beats meets Swedish drones.
  2. Austin Lucas - A New Home in the Old World - The only person I know who is good enough to be in The Eagles.
  3. Shield Your Eyes - Volume 4 - An effort to recreate the opening principles of 1970's blues rock.
  4. Chuck Ragan - Covering Ground - Soul music dug from the earth and fished from the Ocean.
  5. The Bomb - Challenger - Houston, we have a problem.
  6. Tom Waits - Bad As Me - Not bad, it's good actually.
  7. Bangers - Small Pleasures - I'd love to see these chaps square off with Reef.
  8. Hookworms - S/T - The latest Spacemen 3 type stuff from Leeds and it's good.
  9. Kogumaza - S/T - Planets collide and cosmic energy flows.
  10. All Eyes West - S/T - Grow your hair long and put on a dirty shirt.

That puts Bangers at the top of the pile with 3 now!
